Happy NewYear !!  We at the Little Shack wish you and yours a very happy year filled with blessings.

After a wonderful Christmas with family all around and a quiet New Years Eve, we are on our way back to the Little Shack for a couple of weeks while Trev undergoes surgery on the 8th and then recuperates in hospital for a few days. We are enroute on the ferry to the mainland as I type.  Looking forward to some snow and wood heat.  Not looking forward to getting from the car up to the Shack though. Lots of snow has fallen since we were last there.  Great for sledding and snowshoeing, not so fun to shovel.
I'm throwing around the idea of doing some painting while we are at home. Might or might to happen. We'll see.
The four legged members of the family will enjoy the respite from the RV.  Oliver, our very fat and fluffy cat, will like being able to go outside and hunt, while Angel, our timid little kitty, will be happy to sit on the windowsill and bird watch.  Zoey and Freddie will love being back home and free of leashes.  They have loved our daily walks though and I know I will be missing them too.  Just for a couple of weeks though and then we head back to Vancouver Island and move to a new RV park in Comox.  Zac will be starting at a private school at the end of January. It will be his first experience 'going' to school. Lots of things happening in this new year!
I've been thinking about New Year Resolutions and wether I should make any.  There are the ones where we plan to get healthy, lose weight, exercise more.  All of which I 'plan' to do. But, I think as far as a New Year Resolution goes, I want to try to be more organized and declutter my life.  Down sizing and getting rid of the excess 'stuff'. How about you? Do you have any New Year Resolutions?
Happy New Year to all!

  1. Hello Sue, it's Karen from the White approach !
Wow, what a great blog and beautiful "shack" not that it looks like a shack to me. Looks like heaven on Earth.
No New Years resolutions for me this year, although I do need to cut down on the wine drinking and loose the excess tummy I seemed to have gained since the birth of my twins 10 years ago. So maybe I will just quietly try to get on with that !
SO glad we have discovered each other and will certainly keep up with your blog posts at the shack x
Happy New Year to you and yours.

  2. Hi Karen, and welcome to the Little Shack! Slowly (much slower than I had thought when we bought it) the Shack is getting done. Still tons to do, and never enough time or cash!
Lol...I totally get the tummy bit. After 5 kids and going through menopause now...you understand?! So not fun. Oh well, we do what we can and put up with the rest. Take care and I'll be watching for your new posts!-Sue

  3. Sue,
Your "shack" is absoluely charming! I understand the beginning of the year is going to be busy and full of new adventures for your family...
I made no resolutions as I believe people forget them as soon as the month of January is ending!

    1. Welcome Magali! I'm so happy you stopped by! You are probably right. By the end of the month, we are no longer talking about our New Year Resolutions. They are always the things we really want to change and those are usually the hardest to change in the end. Maybe we need to concentrate on doing the best with what we have now?-Sue

  4. I didn't make any "resolutions" either... just the same old daily desire to lose weight, get organized etc... I did start a diet on Friday, it's called Whole30. I'm on day 4. So far,so good. Take care.. See ya at the shack :)

  5. Hi Sherry! So, how was your Christmas? I loved all of your decorations! Good luck with your diet. I probably should get back on mine. It's so hard when there are still goodies around the house though. Perseverance! Determination! Willpower! I need some of those! Hugs-Sue

    1. Hi Vicky, yes we made it! The day after we arrived home though, we got a huge dump of snow. Hubby had an appointment in Kelowna the day after that and it took us 4 hours to get there instead of the usual 1. Crazy! But we made it there and back safely! Thanks for stopping by!-Sue

    1. Hi Laura...yes my fur babies are enjoying being back the 'big house'. Zoey and Freddie, the dogs are loving the snow and are back to squirrel hunting. The cats are glad to be able to go outside a bit. They aren't keen on the snow though. :) We are all enjoying the extra space the house allows, but we do miss our RV as well. It's home too! Not to mention our kids and grandkids!!-Sue
