Shining My Sink!!!

I'm sure a lot of you will have heard of the FlyLady and her website.  Her 'real' name is Marla Cilley
and she has helped so many people trapped in their own CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome). I joined FlyLady years ago, but after our move to the Little Shack, 4 years ago, I have been a back slider and am now very much in need of her guidance and support.
Tonight, even with totes of Christmas decorations piled around the house waiting to be put up in the attic, I decided enough was enough, and I needed to stop procrastinating and get back on board the FlyLady boat!  So, I shined my sink!
Clean!

Shiny!

Love it!
Tomorrow morning I'll be getting dressed to shoes and following the FlyLady's 11 Commandments!
I highly recommend checking out her website and program...it's free!  If you are like me and need some help in the decluttering/organization/getting the housework done department....go visit FlyLady!  I just can't say enough good things about her program!

Sunrise at The Little Shack

This morning, as I was pouring my 1st cup of coffee, I noticed the whole interior of the house seemed to be a pinkish colour.  Here's the reason why!

Looking south.

It's moments like these that I remember why this house appealed to me when we bought it.  I can look past all the unfinished, still waiting to be done projects and jobs. I can pause and appreciate the beauty and seclusion of our hillside.  It helps me to refocus and gives me the encouragement I need to keep trying to get it done, so one day I can just sit and enjoy it.

Taylor

In August of 2009, my almost 2 year old granddaughter, Taylor, was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia.  It was a terrifying and shocking episode in our lives.  I've written a couple of blogs about Tay-Bug, but thought I would share a short photo blog about her and her progress.  We have been extremely blessed over the past year in many ways.  This Christmas/New Years was the first visit to the Little Shack that Taylor has been able to make since she got sick.  Her lack of an immune system has kept her from being able to be anywhere that she could possibly come in contact with any kind of germs or viruses that could cause her to be sick.  Last Christmas, my daughter and her husband didn't know where they would be spending the holiday, and there was a chance it would be in the hospital.  As it turned out, they were able to go home for a few days and spend Christmas in semi-normal way.

Christmas 2011

For the past week, I have watched Taylor as she has been playing with her Uncle Zac and Aunty Alley, rolling around in the snow outside, chasing the cats, visiting the horses and chickens with me...and I am so thankful for her and the amazing gift she is.  It is hard to believe that just over a year ago, she was undergoing chemo, taking all kinds of drugs, and was a very sick little girl.  While she is still being treated, she is now in her maintenance stage and only has to go to Vancouver for treatment once a month, and takes her chemo by pill.  Her hair has grown back, very cute and curly, she is full of fun and smiles, and also has a stubborn streak!  She is such a joy.  I am so proud of her, and of my daughter, Morgan and her awesome husband, Ryan.  It has been an incredibly hard and busy year for them, but they have grown and matured through the process.
